Perhaps the prevailing winds of change blew across the ad men's transom in 1967, because not only was the "Man's Car" tagline dropped for 1968 (with Mercury shifting to align itself with the Lincoln Continental), but in virtually every '68 Mercury ad we could find, women appeared prominently. And generally, without a man in sight.
Growing up I was my dad's side kick for everything cars.
From Mosport Speedway to hanging in the garage, I was his shadow. As I got older and our family grew, cars gave way to snowmobiles and sailing. When dad passed away I inherited everything car he had collected over the years. Posters, programs, event ticket stubs, repair and owner's manuals as well as a vast collection of 1950's, 1960's car and racing magazine's.
I have spent many hours reminiscing while leafing through these. The magazine's were as loved as my dad. Many are worn and are tattered. Between the covers is an enormous amount of history from around the world.
Carlectibles Inc carries the actual pages of magazines, a real piece of the past, mounted and ready to display A unique gift for someone, maybe even yourself.
I am sure they will start many conversations and lead to storytelling. Call or refer to our website for several pieces to choose from.
