About Us
HFH Ontario Gateway North - Regional Office
Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North brings communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable home ownership.
A home is the foundation for a healthy family that lives, learns, plays and grows together. Home ownership provides families with stability and a healthier environment where they thrive as children are able to focus more on school while the families become part of the surrounding community.
The most important way for families to gain stability and self-reliance is when they own their own homes. Every day, more and more families find themselves in a struggle to keep a decent roof over their heads. Habitat for Humanity knows that safe, decent and affordable home ownership plays an absolutely critical role in helping families to create a new cycle, one filled with possibilities and progress. Affordable home ownership frees families and fosters the skills and confidence they need to invest in themselves and their communities. The outcomes can be long-lasting and life-changing.
A recent study conducted by the Boston Consulting Group shows that there are significant and quantifiable benefits to society as a result of Habitat families having access to affordable home ownership. On average, Habitat generates $175,000 of benefits to society per home. These benefits come in the form of reduced reliance on social housing and food banks, better educational and employment outcomes and improved health. In Canada, Habitat’s affordable home ownership program has created a social return on investment of over $590 million since 1985.
Affordable home ownership provides the solid foundation for families to build strength, stability and self-reliance. It’s the platform on which a family lives out today’s realities and prepares for tomorrow’s transformations.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore
Habitat for Humanity ReStores are home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used building materials, as well as furniture, appliances and home accessories to the public. Shopping at a Habitat ReStore is a socially conscious decision, as the money generated is used to fund local Habitat for Humanity home building projects and operations. It’s also an environmentally conscious decision, as much of what is sold is product that is new, gently used or customer returns that might otherwise end up in a landfill.
Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North operates five ReStores across our service area.
