Skiing In Muskoka
Description
Winter or summer, Muskoka’s a great place for a ski adventure! In summer, it’s all about the water. Adventurous types are drawn by the best wakeboarding and waterskiing conditions in Ontario (not to mention knee boarding and wakeskating). Many summer camps provide lessons to young and old alike, as well as qualified instructors and equipment rental outlets. Après (water) ski, it’s down to the lake for a motorboat ride, or to the beach for a BBQ.
And in winter, with up to five months of snow each season, Muskoka boasts some of Ontario’s best ski conditions. Downhill enthusiasts are well served by Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area. Capable of handling 6500 skiers of all levels every hour, Hidden Valley has a 100m vertical drop and 11 runs (the longest of which is 580m), as well as an active après ski program in the chalet.
Cross-country ski fans have a lot of choice with the region’s many parks offering first-class groomed trails of varying lengths (many of these same parks also have snowshoeing trails). Other popular winter activities include skating, pond hockey, ice fishing, dogsledding, curling and snow tubing.
